Obio, Port Harcourt and Akpor (OPA) is one of the branches of Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organization World Wide. This organization came into existence in 1963, after series of attempts to have a Pan-ethnic organization that will ensure the unity of Ikwerre (Iwhuruoha) Ethnic Nationality, become the oasis for the protection and advancement of its cultural heritage and prospects.

As an ethnic minority within the Nigerian polity, Ogbakor Ikwerre as it is widely known was part of the responses of the minority groups in Nigeria, to defend themselves against what they perceived as political marginalization in the 1950s. OPA branch, therefore was created in 1972 with three others otherwise known as home branches. These are REO, ESILA, and ELELE group. It is heartwarming to state that since its inception, the branch has made some propitious strides, and excellently distinguished itself as the pivot of Ogbakor Ikwerre. This is largely because of its strategic location, discipline and dedication of members. Apart from housing the headquarters of Rivers   State Government, most of the tertiary institutions such as the university of Port Harcourt, Choba, University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu – Oroworukwo, College of Arts and Science, Rumuola, many multinational Oil Companies such as Total Fina Elf, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Agip Oil Company and other strategic investments are located in the branch. The branch also traverse two local government areas in Rivers state viz, Port Harcourt City Council (PHCC) and Obio/Akpor Local Government Area whose headquarters is at Rumuodamaya.   The branch commands an enviable membership strength, with an array of men and women of grandeur who have expertly distinguished themselves in their chosen endeavour. It is, therefore, not stupendous that within 42 years of existence, OPA has blazed a trail in the promotion of its ideals, Vision and Mission. This upbeat development can be gleaned from OPA At 42. Considering the present epoch of globalization, and its attendant challenges, it is hoped that members would   redouble their efforts to move the branch to a luminous height in the years ahead. This certainly means that OPA must see clearly beyond its horizon, if   it must continue to occupy a pride of place within Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organization, World Wide.
